Lori Ruth Federman

Therapist in New Paltz & Ghent

LMHC, SME, lruth@yarrowell.com

I am a Trauma Informed Somatic Psychotherapist offering a multidimensional humanistic space in which to connect deeply to the whole self and form healing integrative relationships with all parts of oneself.

The work facilitates psychotherapy, body-mind integration and embodiment. I am interested in one's capacity for establishing baseline resilience, containment, and restorative support as a foundational pathway into relationship with self, recovery, and daily wellness.

In the process, tangible expression and change arise. The somatic approach works with the nervous system and trauma in a titrated fashion that slows down time and expands space to more fully incarnate. Movement is incorporated to free up the body into more supportive present moment options in living.

I integrate my graduate school education in both Anthropology and Mental Health Counseling with my creative sensibilities to facilitate client's of all ages on their journeys.

TRAINING:

My formal training is in Mental Health Counseling (MS, SUNY New Paltz), Somatic Movement Educator (certified by The School for Body-Mind Centering ®), Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Training (SEI, Advanced Level). 5 Element Shiatsu and Western Massage Therapy and Bodywork (LMT, Swedish Institute), Reiki (I,II), Craniosacral (I,II, Upledger Institute), Yoga in the Sri Dharma Mittra Hatha Raja Tradition (RYT, Dharma Yoga Center); Anthropology (MA, USC), Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology (BA, Tulane University).

WORKSHOPS:
